Meet the Author

Note: The following is an imagined interview between myself and a fictionalized interviewer. You will not be able to find this interview anywhere else. This post exists to serve as an introduction of myself and this blog. I hope you enjoy! -Book Dragon

Hello, and welcome! Today our guest is Sarah Morse, the creator of the new blog, Professional Book Dragon.

First of all, what can you tell us about your blog?

As you might be able to guess from its title, I will primarily be engaging with the wonderful world of literature. But don’t expect this to simply be a blog full of book reviews. (Although I can assure you there will be plenty of those. May these posts aid you on your quest as you look to add to your ever growing TBR pile.)

Other engaging content to look forward to includes: highlights of mythological stories and characters for my fellow mythology lovers, videos in which I read from and discuss works written by myself and others, and celebrations of characters who exhibit Hufflepuff qualities. (#PuffPride)

It sounds like we have a lot to look forward to. Why did you want to start Professional Book Dragon?

Literature has always been my passion. (That, and Disney.) So it just made sense that if I were to start a blog, it would have to be about books and storytelling.

I’ve actually been writing mental blog posts in my head for a while now. Professional Book Dragon gives me the platform to actually extract those thoughts from my head and share them with the world.

How did you come up with the name for your blog?

Partially from a sticker I found on Redbubble and partially from a suggestion my friend gave me.

So I heard you have a B.A. in Literature. Do you think your studies will influence how you write about literature?

Absolutely! My literature classes have provided me with new theoretical frameworks for reading, and so the way that I write about my reading will definitely be influenced by my studies. I may not earn grades for my literary analyses anymore, but that does not mean I have forgotten everything my professors taught me.

You earned your degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, which is a Christian campus. Will Christianity play a big role on this blog?

I’d be lying if I said it won’t. I grew up in the Church, and PLNU further developed my Christian mindset. So yes, you will notice I present a Christian outlook in several of my posts. But the art of storytelling will always remain at the heart of this blog.

I’d like to end this interview with a few book-related questions. First of all, what genres do you prefer?

Fantasy and historical fiction mainly, but I’m not too picky.
